Log Profiles are the place it all begins for milled log homes. Currently we are offering 9 profiles ranging from our square 5×8 to our round 8×8. Typically for a home the 8×8 logs are the best. With each inch of thermal mass gained, your home will be even more energy efficient. Logs, with the thermal mass property, are one of the very best natural products that a home can be constructed from. For hundreds of years logs have been cut, hauled to a job site, peeled, notched, and erected. Lake Country takes this old style of home and introduces our innovative finger joinery, fully pre-cut, pre-numbered packages to these vintage style log homes. With no charm lost, these log beauties continue to thrill home owners for generations. Anyone can build a house, but craftsmanship builds a lasting home.

About 85-90% of manufactured log homes we sell are in the 8×8 log. A few homes are constructed of the 6×8. The 6×8 is not infierior by any means, it is simply that most homeowners choose to upgrade to the 8×8 due to the fact it is only an additional few thousand dollars. In fact, the model home at the Lake Country’s yard is constructed from the 6×8 D log. 6×8 logs are also popular for shops, garages, and other out buidlings. The 5×8, though offered is our least common profile.

Log homes are built for years to come. They are an investment for not just the owners, but also for their family. It is a fact the log homes cost more to build, but they also appraise for more than a standard construction home of the same size. Log homes also appreciate more, and they have a longer life span than standard construction.
