Log homes can often be found in high-elevation locations like resort towns. This cabin, built near Cooke City, Montana, is at 7600 elevation and in a high seismic movement area, near Yellowstone National Park. When dealing with parameters like heavy snow loads and possible earthquakes the structural integrity of the log cabin is often enhanced through means such as more lag bolts, thicker bolts, larger diameter structural members for the roof system and support posts, and an increased number of roof purlins. This cabin has all of these features included, the most notable being the four purlins and the large log ridge beam visible on the gable end.
