This is the top of a six sided Douglas Fir log turret. Notice the king truss in the center of it supporting the roof system. King trusses or scissor trusses can be used for the interior of the turret. Turrets are basically the same as gazebos except turrets tend more towards the two story connotation and gazebos tend to be more along the lines of a wider single story construction. Douglas Fir is the log species of choice for any structural work, such as the round post and beam. It is the strongest wood species used for building. Douglas Fir has a rich honey color and also has the necessary structural integrity needed for uses such as train trestles and bridges. Cowboy Log Homes
