This is the loft of the Laker plan. This design is constructed with a three quarter loft, instead of the traditional half loft. A three quarter loft still is open to below, but only by 1/4th. The door in the top left of the photo leads out onto the second floor balcony. Also visible is the handcrafted railing, sky light, and 1×6 pine tongue and groove on the ceiling. The Laker is a unique plan. By carefully studying the layout, a lot is packed into this plan. The 8×8 inch D-logs blend seamlessly to the 1×6 pine tongue and groove on the interior of the gable end.
