This sketch illustrates how our full saddle notch corners go together. Foam tape and caulking are applied for both tongues of each round of logs. The red and blue denote where the caulking and tape is applied. The tape is applied to the logs on top of the tongues. Heavy beads of caulking are applied to walls of corner notch and along the exterior side of the each log row. A ‘dry fit’, or first stack of the logs, before installation of the tape, helps to anticipate adjustments and lag bolt locations. Our log assembly hardware includes ten inch by half inch lag bolts. This is much stronger than the oly-log screws used by some. A through bolt from the top of the wall to the bottom is also available upon request. Some states do require this, but it is not necessary for our homes. Cowboy Log Homes
