Inside of Gable End of Log Cabin

In the last photo we looked at how the exterior of the gable end looks. This photo shows the interior. This is theQueest Plan. Built in the economical 6×8 log, thus the thin ledge that is visible at the bottom of the gable going across the photo. A standard framed wall is eight inches thick, making is protrude two inches past the solid log wall below it. An 8×8 inch log does not have this ridge and it transitions smoothly between the logs and the tongue and groove siding in the gable. The 1×6 pine tongue and groove is installed horizontal instead of vertically to give the appearance of the solid log continueing to the top of the wall. Gable end interiors can also be finished in log siding (a very nice look when the cabin is round on round log profile) or in drywall. Cowboy Log Homes
