This photo gives an up close look at a log roof beam being hand set into the log home shell. The mortise and tenon joinery can be seen by the shaping of the very top of the vertical post. The fact that the log is hand peeled is evident from the customary draw knife marks which leave many narrow ‘flat sides’ to the round log. Also notice that the log is handled with a sling to prevent marking.
