This is a second photo of the Crystal Creek Lodge in Alaska. Pictured here is the main lodge building. It is a handcrafted log building constructed after the same model as our handcrafted log homes, just on a larger scale. The main section is constructed of hand peeled stacked logs and the wing to the left is round post and beam construction. Also the large shed dormer is post and beam. The post and beam allows for large windows to be installed. The support is vertical with each post. A stacked log wall requires a longer stretch of logs for support than does post and beam. Very commonly the post and beam design is also used on the fronts of log homes for prowls and and when large trapezoid windows are used. Cowboy Log Homes
